Re-Launch meeting of the EPS network

1st December 2020

In January 2020 we are planning a rejuvenation and expansion of the Edinburgh Plant Science (EPS) network that brings together > 600 plant scientists from across the Capital. I would like to warmly invite you to attend the EPS relaunch meeting on Wednesday 29th January at the King’s Buildings campus of Edinburgh University. The meeting agenda will provide opportunities for old and new members to get to know our partner institutes better. The meeting will include brief talks from partner institutes, after which we will have a round table discussion with all speakers and network members. The meeting agenda will provide opportunities for old and new members to get to know our partner institutes better. Three key goals of the meeting are to:

i) Identify shared areas of interest/potential collaborations for young researchers, PIs and industry representatives.

ii) Discuss how we can take advantage of the current shifting research funding landscape, and to consider strategic groups within the network that can respond competitively to upcoming funding calls.

iii) Connect young researchers (including PDRAs, RAs and PhD students) and to establish an annual meeting for topics including knowledge exchange and networking, commercialisation of research, public outreach and career opportunities within the EPS network. We will aim to identify potential candidates for the EPS young researcher committee.

Please see the attached agenda for the event.

We will provide light lunch (from 12.30 pm) and refreshments throughout the afternoon as well as some wine and nibbles at the end of the event with the opportunity for some further networking for those who can stay on a bit longer.
